18th Century Architectural Clapboard Fragment

A large fragment of 18th century wood clapboard siding with hand cut nails, the rectangular overlapping boards with wonderful age and patina, from a Hampton New Hampshire house, circa 1725. The square cut-out hole wold have been for an old pipe or vent, likely from the kitchen portion of the house. This architectural element makes for beautiful and uncommon wall sculpture that can read as ancient or modern, depending on the setting in which it is placed.
