19th Century Country Rocking Chair with Old Blue Painted Surface

750.00

A very comfortable, 19th century high back rocking chair, retaining traces of its old blue painted surface, from Northern New England, or possibly Canada, the rectangular top rail with scrolled ends, over 3 curved ladder back supports, some retaining remnants of old pinstripe painted decoration, flanked by scrolled arms over a woven rush seat with cylindrical turned supports and cross stretchers and large primitive rocker blades. The back of the chair, which was less exposed to weather, shows the original bright blue painted surface. Wonderful color, form and patina.
