Henri Mayeux Pastel of Venice

2,200.00

A beautifully rendered view of Venice in pastel, watercolor and pen and ink by French artist Henri Mayeux (1845-1929), framed through an arch with a view of the campanile of St. Mark's in the distance, a sculpture on pedestal in the center and pedestrians with a banner, and gondolas in the foreground, all rendered expressively and with attention to architectural detail. Signed H. Mayeux lower right. New, museum quality framing, a hand finished, gilded laurel leaf carved frame. The drawing is double matte floated within a painted French matte (watercolor lines of grey and black framing the image), with UV resistant glass.
